Says the listing contravenes weapons policy

eBay pulls harrier jump jet auction

Auction site eBay has removed an auction for a decommissioned Harrier jump yet on the basis of the firm’s weapons policy.

The Harrier was listed for sale by ex-RAF mechanic Chris Wilson and his company Jet Art Aviation and had attracted around 80 bids by the time eBay pulled the plug.

The vintage vertical take off fighter aircraft had been stripped of all weaponry before the RAF disposed of the aircraft and was being sold without engine.

"We have strict policies in regards to the sale of military weaponry, meaning the jet should not have been listed for sale," said an eBay representative.

"We would like to apologise to the seller concerned for the inconvenience this has caused him."

The Harrier had been expected to fetch bits up to £150,00.
