The parent company of PC World has opened the door to collaboration with the independent sector by partnering with IT skills marketplace Orderwork.

DSGi takes on OrderWork

The move will allow DSGi to offer work to all IT professionals who use the service, while also making its in-house technicians available for extra work when they’re not busy.

This could mean that independent service and repair professionals, who spend the majority of their time competing with PC World, Tech Guys, etc, will have the opportunity to accept contract work from DSGi when business is quiet.

Speaking to PC Retail, OrderWork CEO Neil Bradford explained the significance of the move. “The partnership with DSGi is a major milestone for OrderWork as it proves that major companies are ready to embrace flexible outsourcing – that is using external suppliers to provide extra resources when required,” he said.

Asked what this means for PC Retail readers, Bradford replied “Many firms in the broad PC retail/IT service space are experts in providing IT support yet have peaks and troughs in demand for their service. They can use OrderWork to bid for work from any of our buyers, including DSGi, thereby increasing revenues when their own business is quiet.”

Peter Northwood, service development director at DSGi, said "We are excited to work with OrderWork because we can augment our permanent teams with expert, local, vetted suppliers to serve our customers right across the . OrderWork’s edge is the simplicity of its business model; via one relationship with OrderWork we can satisfy our additional field IT skills requirements."
