The DRAM market is evidently declining further as average selling prices recently took another steep dive through the second quarter, according to research firm iSuppli.

During the second quarter global revenues declined by 24.1per cent compared with the previous quarter. Samsung Electronics and Micron Technology saw their sales slide by 16.7per cent and 15.7per cent respectively. DRAM average selling price also saw a slump dropping 39 per cent, although this was only one per cent lower than the analysts estimates.

Only one supplier among the top ten, Etron Technology, managed growth during the period.
A key reason behind the dive in prices and revenues was availability. Megabit shipment rose 23per cent, nearly three points higher than the iSuppli prediction.

Samsung shipped the most DRAM units, enabling it to reclaim the top rank ahead of rival Hynix Semiconductor, who captured 20.7per cent, 7.7per cent lower than Samsung's 28.4 per cent share.
