Doro targets over 50s with Liberto 810 smartphone

A new smartphone designed specifically for older people is launching in the UK – the Doro Liberto 810.

The device features include a straightforward menu structure, soft touch casing, web browsing, a trio of simple ‘back, home and menu’ keys which vibrate the phone when pressed, as well as a touch-screen keyboard, Google Play apps and more.

Doro is in discussions with key retailers and the Liberto 810 is expected to launch in the UK in mid-October. It has a suggested retail price of £170.

"If you were aged 15 to 35, you’re probably not going to be looking for something like this," Doro business development manager Pratul Shah told PCR. "However, I would imagine that for anyone 50-plus, if you want a more easy to use fully functional smartphone with simplicity at it’s core – then this is probably your device.

"A recent article said there’s over 10 million peopled aged 65 and over in the UK now. So there’s a huge opportunity. We really want to focus on the Doro Liberto 810 and highlight the opportunity to all our partners out there that this isn’t just another ‘me too’ product. We’ve differentiated it, we’ve got some USPs like the torch light."

Jérôme Arnaud, President and CEO at Doro, commented: "Our latest smartphone combines all the functionality of a mainstream handset with everything at the core of Doro. It is this very ‘DNA’ that has solidified us as the clear world-leader in easy-to-use mobile phones."
