LCD panel makers want new screen sizes. LCD monitor makers do not

Differences emerge on screen sizes

LCD panel makers are aggressively pushing new screen sizes for monitors. However, the monitor brand vendors remain unsure over their potential in the market.

Digitimes reported this morning that LCD panel makers, including LG.Philips LCD and AU Optronics, would shortly be offering 15, 15.6, 18.5 and 21.6-inch widescreen panels. Whereas 26 and 28-inch panels will be available later in the year,

However, brand makers have yet to finish their evaluations of the market response to the new sizes, and so have no plans to develop products using them. Panel makers don’t believe there is much difference between the new sizes and those already available.
