Tablets and smart phones converge in new device

Dell Streak launches in UK

Dell’s Streak, which the vendor is calling a smart phone, will be sold in the UK from today and is available in O2 stores.

The device features a five inch screen and utilises the Android mobile operating system, with Dell saying that it has been designed for entertainment, social networking and navigation, as well as making calls.

“The Dell Streak hits the sweet spot between traditional smartphones and larger-screen tablets,” said the president of Dell’s communication division, Ron Garriques. “Its unique size provides people new ways to enjoy, connect, and navigate their lives.”

O2 has revealed its tariffs for the device, offering it without a contract for £399. A two year contract using it for data and voice will cost upwards of £35 per month, while data only and business contracts are available for upwards of £25 per month.
