Computing giant Dell has said it is going to cut its global workforce by ten per cent, meaning around 8,800 jobs will be lost.
Dell will make the layoffs, which will span the 88,100 strong worldwide workforce, over the next 12 months, reported The Washington Post.
While describing the job losses as ‘difficult’, CEO Michael Dell said they were much needed.
"While reductions in headcount are always difficult for a company, we know these actions are critical to our ability to deliver unprecedented value to our customers," Dell said.
The redundancies are the latest in a line of changes founder Michael Dell made since he returned to lead the firm, replacing former CEO Kevin Rollins.
