Acclaimed game designer David Cage has been announced today as the speaker at this year’s BAFTA Annual Games Lecture.

Cage, known for the immersive interactive storytelling of Fahrenheit and the triple BAFTA-winning Heavy Rain, will speak on September 3rd at the BAFTA headquarters in London. Topics covered will include his views and predications on creativity in the games industry.

The founder and CEO of game developer Quantic Dream, Cage was described by Amanda Berry OBE, Chief Executive of BAFTA, as ‘a true innovator in the games industry, [with] his passion for supporting the evolution of the medium evident.’

Cage joins a long list of renowned names from the games industry, including Will Wright (The Sims, SimCity), Peter Molyneux (Fable, Theme Park, Black & White), Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid) and Drs Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, co-founders of Bioware. It is not the first time Cage has been surrounded by visionary talent, having previously worked with David Bowie, composer Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive) and screenwriter Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner).

The event is sponsored by Playstation and the upcoming Playstation 3 Quantic Dream game; BEYOND: Two Souls, starring Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe, which will be released on October 11th.
