Currys and PC World are offering support to local communities affected by the recent flooding and storm damage across the UK.

The electronics retailer is providing “essential” electronics to people forced to relocate from areas hit by the weather to emergency centres. Fridges supplied by the firm will be used to store food and medicine, with kettles and toasters set to make individuals' stays a little more comfortable.

The company has also promised to provide a range of free delivery and installation services for large electrical replacements, “as and when the big clean-up begins for communities”.

"Our thoughts are with all those communities impacted by the flooding and bad weather,” Sebastian James, CEO at Dixons Retail, commented.

“The least we can do is to make the emergency centres in those affected areas more comfortable for their temporary residents. As such we will immediately be making available hundreds of essential electricals, including kettles, toasters and fridges.”

"In the longer term we will also provide free installation for large electricals being replaced, whilst of course recycling old units. Ultimately, we want to help get people back on their feet as quickly as is possible."
