Computex 2012: Gigabyte unveils Thunderbolt motherboards and the world's lightest notebook

Gigabyte showcased a whole host of new products at this year’s Computex, including new motherboards, GeForce GTX 680 SOC, and what the company claims is the world’s lightest notebook.

Gigabyte’s new 7 series motherboards feature Thunderbolt technology, a bi-directional 10Gbps data pipeline, and the latest 3rd generation Intel Core processors. Also previewed at Computex 2012 were Gigabyte’s new X79S platform motherboards, which are designed for workstation builds that require enterprise-class storage.

Also on show was the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 680 Super Overclock Edition, which includes Windforce 5X cooling technology. The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 680 SOC, designed with Gigabyte Extreme Dual BIOS technology, is equipped with Gigabyte’s GPU Gauntlet Sorting process and Ultra Durable VGA or VGA+ boards.

Gigabyte claims that its latest notebook, the X11, is the lightest 11.6-inch full carbon fibre notebook in the world. It weighs only 975g and at its thickest part is just 1.65cm. Powered by a 3rd generation Intel Core processor, the X11 comes equipped with a 128GB SSD.

All of Gigabyte’s products will be on display at Computex 2012 until June 9th.
