Current CompTIA members will automatically receive 'premier member' status

CompTIA offers free membership tier

IT trade body CompTIA has introduced a new ‘open access’ model which gives new members access to research and tools for free.

A CompTIA spokesperson confirmed to PCR this new tier will be available in the UK.

Announced during CompTIA’s Annual Members Meeting this week, the body says its new model marks a ‘fundamental shift’ in its 30-year membership strategy.

It consists of three aspects. Firstly, the no-cost level of engagement called ‘registered user’ gives individuals access to "select high-quality channel education, industry research, news and tools designed to help channel partners achieve their business goals".

Secondly, an expanded membership tier called ‘premier member’ has been made available to solution providers, vendors and distributors, and companies serving the IT channel. CompTIA premier members receive ‘exclusive business tools’ and priority access to all of CompTIA’s research, training and education resources. All current CompTIA members will automatically receive this premier member status.

Thirdly, a re-designed mobile-friendly website will go live in June 2014.

“The IT industry is changing rapidly, and channel partners, as well as IT professionals, business owners and consumers, are eager for real-world insights and resources that will help them make more informed decisions and offer guidance on the future of IT,” said Todd Thibodeaux, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA.

“CompTIA is uniquely positioned to be that voice and resource, which is why we’re opening up the vault to registered users and introducing greater exclusivity and value for our members.”

Nancy Hammervik, senior vice president for industry relations at CompTIA, added: "CompTIA’s new open access model and complementary digital platform will bring greater visibility, value and voice to CompTIA and our premier members, while empowering the IT industry with the knowledge and resources they want and need to be more successful."
