MD of Maximity Ltd. joins IT trade association’s leadership team

CompTIA appoints Tracy Pound to board of directors

IT trade association CompTIA has appointed experienced channel exec Tracy Pound, MD at IT consultancy and training firm Maximity, to its board of directors.

Pound is a renowned channel figure with 30 years of industry experience, and a strong focus on expanding CompTIA’s ‘Advancing Women in IT’ initiative and cyber security. She was also named in PCR’s Top 50 Women in Technology 2014.

She will advise on the strategy behind CompTIA’s UK channel community activity, overseeing investment and reviewing activity along with other members of the board. She has been a part of CompTIA since 2006 where she started as an accredited assessor.

Originally, Pound began her career as a programmer in 1984 and was appointed as a manager at a small software company at 21. She was then headhunted by a division of BTR Industries where she was its first female manager, and the youngest at 27 to head up its UK IT operations, managing an annual CapEx budget of £8 million.

In 2000 she launched Maximity as a way to continue working in IT with the flexibility needed for a young family.

She will remain a driving force in CompTIA’s Advancing Women in IT community, and play a strong part in the Dream IT initiative, planned to roll out to UK schools in October. She will also look to expand CompTIA’s membership in the UK and into Europe.

Furthermore, Pound will be attending CompTIA’s next UK Channel Community meet up in Birmingham on June 23rd to 24th and will be leading CompTIA’s next AWIT Community webinar on June 17th.

“CompTIA plays a key role as the voice of the IT channel and it is an honour to be appointed to the association’s board of directors,” she said. “It is an organisation that has been close to my heart since I joined in 2006, and I hope to make a real impact. CompTIA’s research and community meetings are second to none, and play an invaluable role in driving the industry forward.”

Todd Thibodeaux, CEO of CompTIA, added: “Tracy has been one of the biggest names in the UK channel and has been tremendously active within our membership for nearly ten years. She is a true role model for us all and we’re truly looking forward to having her on the board of directors to help determine the direction our membership heads to in the future.”

Tracy Pound’s appointment is made following the arrival of Estelle Johannes as CompTIA’s new UK channel community director.
