CMS Distribution is to relocate to a new premises in Yorkshire as part of the distributor’s growth strategy.
The new project will see CMS’ two existing warehouses, currently based in North West London and Harrogate in North Yorkshire, combined into a single Operations Centre located in Castleford, West Yorkshire.
The firm said that the consolidation of the two warehouses would enable it to “provide an improved service to our customers over the coming months and years by eradicating multiple courier consignments for orders, increasing the overall resilience of the logistic chain and, more importantly, providing us with more warehouse capacity to stock more product lines from existing vendors and recruit more vendors in the future”.
CMS added that a priority of the project’s implementation was to avoid any negative impact on customers.
For this reason, the firm said, it would begin a “cautious and phased” implementation approach, starting at the beginning of July 2014, with the proposed completion of the transferal of all operations to the new Castleford Operations Centre by the end of August 2014.
Product availability is said to be unaffected by the move.
