Cloud technology is leading the agenda at this years Infosecurity Europe event at London’s Earls Court.
The show, which began yesterday and continues until tomorrow, has seen IT professionals gather from across the continent to do business and see the latest developments in the sector.
A key theme has been cloud security and efficient remote management techniques, with many exhibitors highlighting the cost benefits that these practices can bring.
Panda Security was at the event showcasing its new Cloud Protection suite, a cloud-based anti-malware service that Panda says offers low cost, low latency protection with high detection rates, via a high-speed uplink. The system is centrally managed, allowing a single admin to control security for an entire company.
“This technology provides unified solutions, but can bring enormous savings to a business,” said Panda’s UK managing director Petter Lautin.
Another issue for the security industry is the rising profile of EU compliance regulations following the high profile loss of Government data in previous years. Memory specialist Verbatim was at the event showing its range of compliant storage devices due to be released later this year, ranging from rugged USB sticks with integrated hardware and software security to multiple failsafe storage drives, for SMB and local government.
“This is a natural evolution for Verbatim,” said UK marketing executive Helen Picot-Yew. “We have a history in removable storage and we’re good at bringing scalable high-end technology to the SMB market.
Many companies were simply at the event to do business. German software vendor G Data, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, was at the event as it is in the process of forming a UK distribution channel for its dual-engine consumer and enterprise security software suites.
Billed as a flexible but comprehensive software package, G Data’s UK channel sales manager James Coombes said that the products “consistently receive top scores on comparative tests, cover an unrivalled range of malware and works logically and perfectly.”
