Does streaming signal the end for hard drives?

With the launch of Amazon’s new data storage and music streaming services – Cloud Drive and Cloud Player – many will be asking how much life the hard
drive has left.

The cloud is on the rise, with big name players such as Google, Apple and Microsoft all making inroads into the online storage space, and no doubt more services will include games and film streaming very soon.

Once the masses are keeping large files and media online, what will motivate them to buy big hard drives or external solutions? Perhaps the trend will be for smaller flash drives that only see large files passing through. Either way, the cloud will be key for the future.
