Antimicrobial glass is covered in ionic silver verified by the EPA

CES 2014: New Gorilla Glass fends off bacteria

Corning’s new Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass inhibits the growth of algae, mould, mildew, fungi and bacteria.

On show at this year’s CES, the cover glass is formulated with an antibacterial agent, ionic silver, which is incorporated into the surface.

Unlike antibacterial wipes or sprays, ionic silver doesn’t wear off. It has also been verified by the EPA.

The new glass can be installed in electronic devices such as computers, smartphones, telephones and anything with a display panel.
