Valve has confirmed the 14 hardware partners for its first generation of Steam Machine gaming PCs, and we’ve got pictures and details of them all.
The designs and specifications of the boxes will vary from partner to partner, with systems starting at $499 and leading up to more expensive high-end gaming rigs, like the top-end Falcon Northwest machine which is priced at $6,000.
Every Machine will include Valve’s Steam Controller and run on the freely-available Linux-based SteamOS operating system.
"The first generation Steam Machines offers something for every gamer, which is a critical part of extending Steam into the living room," said Gabe Newell of Valve.
"With over 3,000 games and more than 65 million gamers on Steam, it’s important to offer gamers a variety of Steam Machines that allow them to select what makes the most sense for them."

Alienware
Following a four year collaborative effort between Valve and Alienware during which the gaming PC specialist pre-installed Steam on all of its systems, Alienware is to release two SteamOS-based boxes in 2014. The Alienware Steam Machine (above) adopts a console-like shape, while the Alienware X51 desktop PC will be available as a Steam Machine in a more traditional form factor. Prices and dates will be revealed later this year.
Alternate
CyberPower
CyberPower will offer two configurations of Steam Machine – A and I. A, for ‘AMD’, will use an AMD A6-6400K processor and Radeon R9 270graphics card, while I, for ‘Intel’, will use an Intel Core i3 4330 processor with Nvidia GeForce 760 graphics. Both will include 500GB of HDD capacity and 8GB of RAM. The A will cost $500, with the I sitting slightly higher at $700.

Digital Storm
Digital Storm will use its new Bolt II case to house the Steam Machine, and will be able to boot into both SteamOS and Windows. Equipped with liquid cooling and high-end components, the Windows-only Bolt II is currently set to launch at $1,900.
Falcon Northwest
Based on its existing ‘Tiki’ desktop, the liquid-cooled machine will use Haswell components in a number of combinations, with prices ranging from $1,800 to $6,000.
Gigabyte
Built on the foundations of the Brix Pro, Gigabyte’s Steam Machine will run on Intel’s Core i7 4770R processor and Iris Pro 5200 graphics.
iBuyPower
Favouring an AMD processor and graphics card able to push gaming at 1080p, iBuyPower’s previous-announced Steam Machine is red inside and will cost $500.

Maingear
A minature AMD-based Machine, Maingear’s Spark-based box is made up of a 3.1GHz AMD A8-5575M processor, Radeon R9 M275X graphics, up to 16GB of DDR3L RAM and up to 256GB of SSD capacity. No price has been revealed yet.
Material.net
Adopting the Intel/Nvidia combination of components, the $1,100 Material.net Steam Machine will be powered by an Intel Core i5 4440 processor, 8GB of RAM and Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 OC graphics. Storage will be provided by a 1TB SSHD.
Next Spa
Built on an Intel i5 processor, Nvidia GTX 760 graphics card, 1TB HDD and 8GB of RAM, the Next Spa Steam Machine is yet to be priced.
Origin PC
Designed to be customised, Origin PC’s Machine will support Intel processors ranging from 3.9 to 4.6GHz and dual graphics cards up to the Nvidia Titan.

Scan
The Scan 3XS Steam NC10 will use custom components inside of a 202x369x45mm three-litre volume chassis, designed to fit under a TV like a set-top box.
The standard specification of the NX10 will include a 2GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M graphics card, Intel Core i3 4000M processor, 8GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz RAM and a 500GB Western Digital hard disk. Customers will be also able to customize the system with other components using Scan’s online configurator.
The standard configuration of Scan’s NC10 Steam Machine will be available in the second half of 2014, starting at £699.
Webhallen
Encased in a BitFenix chassis, the inside of Webhallen’s Steam Machine hasn’t had any details released so far.
Zotac
Dubbed the ‘ZBox’ temporarily, Zotac’s Steam Machine is built inside of a third generation all-black ZBox chassis with orange lighting. Specific component details haven’t been announced, but Zotac has confirmed that the processor will be an Intel Core model, with graphics to be a Nvidia GeForce GTX card. The ‘Zbox’ will be released in the second half of 2014.
