Show organiser Deutsche Messe hails event as return to ?days of euphoria?

CeBIT sparks ?fresh sense of optimism?

As the doors close on Hannover based technology trade show CeBIT, organisers Deutsche Messe have said the new format went down a storm, and the show as a whole generated a great deal of enthusiasm for the future of the industry.

The 5,845 strong exhibitor list from 77 countries attracted a whopping 495,000 visitors – up three per cent form the previous year’s figure, despite running for a day less.

“The new CeBIT format has succeeded across the board, drawing an enthusiastic response from visitors and exhibitors alike," said Ernst Raue, managing board member at Deutsche Messe. "This six-day event has generated a fresh sense of optimism and a premonition of great things ahead in the global IT industry."

Raue claimed this year’s show had returned to the ‘days of euphoria’ in the technology industry: "This show has managed to maintain its momentum throughout. We had a fantastic opening ceremony featuring heads of state and visionaries, which was followed by a charity run attracting over 1,300 participants at the midway point, plus a great weekend to cap it off.”

Next year’s CeBIT will run from Tuesday March 3rd to Sunday March 8th.
