Retailer says it now accounts for one in ten of all purchases in the UK, six months after entering market

Carphone claims ten per cent of laptop sales

Carphone Warehouse has claimed that it now accounts for ten per cent of all laptop sales in the UK, despite having only moved into the sector a little over six months ago.

It made the claims as it announced that it would be expanding the range of laptops it stocks to include Apple MacBooks, as previously reported by PC Retail, and also a variety of Sony Vaio devices.

However, the firm is keen to stress that it has no intention of resting on its laurels now it has made a significant impact on the channel. "We have taken over ten per cent of the laptop market and hope to increase this figure further," Carphone’s new business and multichannel director Andrew Brem told Mobile News.

"We haven’t determined how much we want to increase is by as a percentage share but we want to do what we did with mobile phones and make as many connections as we can."

In addition to Apple and Sony, the retailer also carries products from Asus, Fujitsu Siemens, Acer, Toshiba and HP.
