Price hike set to take place on January 5th

BT to increase broadband prices

BT will raise its broadband and phone prices by up to 5.9 per cent at the beginning of next year.

According to the BBC, the planned rises are a response to price increases by rivals including Sky, Virgin and TalkTalk.

BT has recently reported an 8 per cent year-on-year rise in profits for the second quarter and had increased its broadband customer numbers by 85,000 during the same period. However, these developments did not prevent the company from claiming that revenues had fallen.

“We will be changing some prices in January, but we will then be freezing many key prices until 2014,” said a managing director at BT, John Petter.
