Firm acknowledges it’s going through challenging times

BlackBerry posts ads in 30 newspapers; admits it’s ‘not for everyone’

BlackBerry has taken out full-page advertisements in 30 major newspapers around the world to reassure customers that all is well at the company.

In the adverts, BlackBerry highlights its debt-free standing and informs consumers that: “One thing that will never change is our commitment to those of you who helped build BlackBerry into the most trusted tool for the world’s business professionals.”

Featured in newspapers such as The Telegraph and The Times, another part of the advert reads: "Yes, there is a lot of competition out there and we know that BlackBerry is not for everyone. That’s OK. You have always known that BlackBerry is different, that BlackBerry can set you apart."

BlackBerry did admit that it is going through challenging times and said it was making the ‘difficult changes’ necessary to strengthen the company.

Last month the firm announced its plans to cut 4.500 jobs, cutting its workforce by 40 per cent. It also agreed to a £2.95 billion buyout offer from its largest shareholder, Fairfax.
