However, the US president still uses an iPad

Barack Obama says he’s not allowed an iPhone for ‘security reasons’

US president Barack Obama has said that he is not allowed to use an iPhone for ‘security reasons’.

Obama made the statement while meeting with young people to discuss healthcare law.

Despite not being allowed to use the Apple smartphone, Obama does use its bigger brother, the iPad.

Obama has said that only ten people have his personal email address, and had previously fought to hold onto his BlackBerry phone upon his appointment to the role of president 2009.

BlackBerry has long been regarded for its high security levels, and has several deals with large business and government clients.

Apple was among the companies who allowed the NSA to access their customer data servers, according to Edward Snowden. All of the companies deny the accusation.
