Taiwanese business Asus is preparing the UK release of its newest Skype videophone that incorporates touchscreen accessibility.
The device is a follow-up to last year’s AiGuru SV1, Asus’ first ever standalone videophone.
The newest model, known as the AiGuru SV1T, applies touchscreen functionality to its 800x480 pixel 7-inch display, in the hope that the greater ease of use will broaden its target market.
Users can make free Skype-to-Skype calls, or videocalls, by attaching the device to an Ethernet cable or connecting it over WiFi. Home phones and mobile devices are charged at Skype’s standard rates.
The AiGuru SV1T is currently being rolled out across the US at $300, with a UK release set for mid-October. No UK RRP has been announced as yet, though the prior model sold at £200.
