Wearable tech expected to feature Amoled screen with prices starting at $99

Asus teases smartwatch image and launch date

Asus has revealed a sketch of the company’s upcoming smartwatch via Twitter.

The sketch purports to show the overall form factor of the new device, showcasing the side, front and back panel.

This morning Asus confirmed via the firm’s Twitter page, that the smartwatch "will be one of the highlights at #IFA2014 in Berlin".

Reports also suggest the device will feature an Amoled screen and retail between $99 (£59) and $149 (£89).

This competitive price rivals other current products from the likes of LG, Samsung and Motorola, where prices for wearable tech start at around £150.

The news comes after reports last month suggested that the firm would be launching its first ever Android Wear smartwatch, which would allegedly debut during September.

However, until IFA takes place in Berlin we will have to wait and see what exact specs the new device will feature.

Asus also recently launched the ZenFone series, a new range of smartphones that are available from selected retailers in the UK.
