Asus has launched the B Series of laptops equipped with Boston-Power's Sonata battery technology.
Describing the new Sonata long life battery technology as "game changing", Asus said that the new B Series notebooks would feature Sonata-enabled batteries as standard. The batteries are claimed to have a lifetime triple that of standard lithium-ion cells, that is to say the life time before the batteries degrade and hold less charge.
The B series of notebooks are aimed at business with Asus seeking to use the boosted battery lifetime as a selling point in addition to a three year warranty. Asus also said that the B series would "deliver industry leading efficiency, reliability and security along with excellent durability."
The first notebook available in the range is the B53, offering a 15.6-inch LED backlit screen with 1366 x 768 resolution, Intel Core i5-520M 2.4GH CPU, 2GB of RAM, 320GB HD and Windows Professional 64-bit.
"Our customers look to ASUS to provide cost effective solutions that include innovative features such as the Sonata Long Life Battery, which offers not only long term dependability but is also environmentally friendly," said Asus sales director Rudy Magna.
The ASUS B53 is available immediately in the US market although no pricing was available.
