Argos has seen sales fall, both in total and on a like-for-like basis, according to its parent company Home Retail Group, however, consumer electronics proved to be a strong point for the retailer.
Like-for-like sales were down by 5.3 per cent, according to the Group, with total sales down 1.6 per cent at £927m. That was despite the opening of nine new stores and two relocations.
According to the firm, growth in consumer electronics remained strong, but was slightly down on the previous quarter when chief executive of Home Retail Terry Duddy claimed that the retailer had displaced Comet as the UK’s second largest consumer electronics chain.
