At least two of the retailer’s new-style digital stores have been hit with technology problems.
According to Retail Week, The new Argos stores in London’s Old Street and Chancery Lane have had shoppers gathering outside to pick up reserved goods, only to find the stores were not officially open and their purchases were out of stock.
Reportedly, the retailer was trialing a new digital system which had crashed. The online stock system was showing items as being in-stock when they were actually not available.
One shopper told the publication that everyone at the Chancery Lane store was told to go home and come back when it officially opens.
The new-style stores feature web browsers in replace of paper catalogues and fast collection points.
Argos plans to open five of these digital concept stores by Christmas.
