Mystery shopper is underwhelmed in Milton Keynes by lack of demo models

Are retailers missing tablet opportunities?

This month PCR’s mystery shopper went to Milton Keynes, seeking tablets for apps and web-surfing, only to find not all stores had them available to try.

John Lewis didn’t have working models available to try, while Maplin had them hidden away in a glass cabinet?

Furthermore, of all the stores visited, only Staples tried to encourage an add-on sale – which, when there are keyboards, cases and more available to stock – is a bit of a missed opportunity for increased revenue.

Overall though, there were plenty of tablets on the market to choose from, and the Asus Transformer in particular made a good impression.
