PMP maker confirms plans to launch its first netbook at the end of this month

Archos to enter PC market

Archos has confirmed that it is to enter the laptop market, with the launch of its own XP-based netbook at the end of this month.

The device, called the Archos 10, will have a 10.2-inch super bright LED screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600, an ergonomic keyboard, a 160GB hard drive, wireless B & G, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, memory card reader and three USB ports.

It will come with Skype, Lotus Symphony and a six month trial of BitDefender antivirus 2009 pre-installed, as well as access to Archos’ Media Club for video on demand, Deezer for music, vTuner for internet TV and radio and Xnview’s photo suite.

It is expected to hit the channel towards the end of this month, and will retail with an SRP of £349.
