Apple to ‘unveil new iPad’ on October 22nd

Apple is expected to announce its new iPad line at an event on Tuesday, October 22nd.

AllThingsD reports that the event will be held at either the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts in San Francisco or the Town Hall Auditorium in Cupertino.

People ‘familiar with Apple’s plans’ told the website that the invitation-only event will focus on the latest updates to the iPad line, but the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks will also be on show.

Apple is rumoured to be releasing the iPad 5 and the iPad Mini 2 this year. Spec rumours for the iPad 5 include NFC and a lighter, thinner shell. As for the iPad Mini 2, it is expected to have Retina display and a quad core processor.

Apple’s event isn’t the only thing happening in the world of tablets on October 22nd – Nokia is expected to announce its very first tablet, the Lumia 2520, and Microsoft’s Surface 2 goes on sales on the same day.
