iPad 5 to lose bezel to make way for larger screen

Apple to unveil iPad 5, iPad Mini 2 and iPhone 6 in September

Apple is expected to announce its fifth-gen iPad in September, along with the iPad Mini 2 and iPhone 6.

The iPad 5 is expected to have no bezels and be slimmer than previous models. In May, PCR reported that the new iPad will incorporate glass within its Retina display.

In addition to this, the lack of bezel indicates that the screen will be bigger while still keeping the 9.7-inch size of the previous model.

DigiTimes reports that the number of LED tubes has been reduced from two to one and battery life has also been improved.

Along with the iPad 5, the iPad Mini 2 is expected to be unveiled in September. It looks likely that the 7.5-inch device will adopt Retina Display. Speculated features include a screen resolution of 2048×1536, making it almost four times the resolution of the current iPad Mini.

It device is also rumoured to have a more powerful dual core A7 processor and a ten-hour battery life.

Along with the iPads it’s expected that Apple is going to unveil its latest smartphone, the iPhone 6, which may include a faster A6X processor and that highly-rumoured fingerprint sensor.

The budget iPhone could also be shown off at the event. This is the one that’s expected to be released in a variety of colours and will most likely have similar specs to the iPhone 4S.
