Possible future device will be compatible with global networks

Apple to ship international iPhone?

Rumours abound that Apple is to create a new version of the iPhone that will work with 3G networks as well as the CDMA2000 systems popular in the US.

According to Yahoo News, Northeast Securities analyst Ashok Kumar speculated that the device would be sold initially in the US via Verizon and will utilise a Qualcomm chipset.

If the rumours are true, the device would be the first smart phone capable of working on global networks. Such a move would prove beneficial to the vendor, which has seen sales in India and China struggle due to network incompatibilities.
