Apple claims there was a bug in the system

Apple to face lawsuit over tracking information

Apple must defend itself against a lawsuit filed after research showed users’ movements were being monitored.

A federal judge in California said there was some ambiguity as to whether all the information that was collected from Apple devices had been permitted by the user. Apple insists that the user agreements shield it from any liability.

As well as this, there have been a host of other accusations that have been dismissed, including computer fraud, wiretaps and violating customers’ privacy rights.

Back in April 2011 regulators demanded changes after a presentation from two computers programmers showed that iPhone users’ movement were being monitored through their devices.

Apple claimed this was a bug, which was fixed during its regular software updates.
