Steve Jobs has defended his decision to begin selling the iPad without Flash support, citing the devices strong sales results.

Talking at the D8 conference, Jobs stated that the decision to remove Flash support was a technical matter and that ultimately it was for the market to decide.

“We had the courage of our convictions to say ‘we don’t this is part of what makes a great product, we’re going to leave it out,’” explained Jobs. “That’s what a lot of customers pay us to do… If we succeed, they’ll buy them. If we don’t they won’t. And it’ll all work itself out.

“So far, I’d have to say that people seem to be liking iPads. We’ve sold one every three seconds since we launched it.”
