Documents filed yesterday reveal details about how many smartphone units Apple and Samsung have sold in the US between 2010 and 2012.

Samsung angered Apple last week by leaking patent details to the press, but now Apple can don a massive smug face as the sales figures reveal that the US company’s iPhone sales dwarfed Samsung’s smartphone sales.

From June 2010 until June this year, Samsung sold 21.15 million phones in the US alone. Its earlier flagship phone, the Galaxy S II, sold 4.1 million, the Galaxy Prevail sold 2.25 million, and 1.89 million Epic 4Gs were bought.

1.4 million Galaxy Tabs and Tab 10.1s were also sold.

From the third quarter of 2010 until the second quarter of 2012, Apple sold 60 million iPhones and 32 million iPads.

Although both firms have been trying to hold back as much of their performance data as possible from the public, Judge Lucy Koh has rejected requests for confidentiality.

The data is necessary to the case to work out how much in damages either company could be entitled to.

The court case continues in San Jose today (August 10th).
