Apple is currently implementing a blanket price-increase on the App Store throughout Europe and Canada.
A memo sent to developers, and obtained by 9to5 Mac on Thursday 8th, reveals that ‘within the next 36 hours, prices on the App Store will increase for all territories in the European Union’.
The memo states that Canada and Norway will also see an increase, prices will decrease in Iceland, and there will be changes in Russia too, but these have not been detailed yet.
Apple says the price changes are being made to account for adjustments in VAT and foreign exchange rates.
The miminus price for an app will rise from 69p to 79p. It’s the second time the baseline app price has been increased following its jump from 59p to 69p back in the summer of 2011.
Apple had a good start to the year, with the App Store clearing nearly half a billion dollars in sales in the first seven days of January, breaking previous records.
The whole of 2014 was a successful year for the firm, after its billings rose by 50 per cent and developers earned over $10 billion.
Rumours have it that Apple’s first ever smartwatch, the Apple Watch, will be available in March with prices starting at $349.
