Suppliers hint that a larger iPad will be delayed until next year

Apple expected to showcase new iPad Air 2 at October event

Apple is expected to showcase the company’s latest devices, including a new iPad Air 2, at an event on October 16th.

A notice on Apple’s website said that customers could also tune in to a live stream of the event. “It’s been way too long," read a statement (found at the bottom of this article).

There’s no countdown timer either, unlike the live stream for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus reveal.

The event will be held at the Town Hall auditorium at the company’s Cupertino campus at 10am Pacific Time (5pm GMT).

Some Apple suppliers have also suggested that Apple has delayed production of a second, larger iPad model until early next year, reports the The Wall Street Journal.

Suppliers had apparently planned to start producing the larger screen tablet this December, but have been struggling to keep up with demands of the iPhone.

The iPad Air 2 is alleged to include an A8 processor, 2GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera, a FaceTime HD front-facing camera and Touch ID fingerprint button with ApplePay functions, after iPad Air 2 details were leaked earlier this week.

Some reportedly leaked photos of the iPad Air 2 also emerged back in August.

Apple revealed the iPhone 6, 6 Plus and Apple Watch last month.
