Apple close to buying company behind Xbox Kinect’s 3D sensor

According to reports Apple is in the final stages of buying PrimeSense for $345 million.

Some publications, such as Israeli site The Calcalist, are already reporting that the acquisition has taken place. While many others believe talks are still ongoing.

PrimeSense was the original supplier for Microsoft’s Kinect, which incorporated cameras and depth sensors so players can control Xbox games via gestures.

Microsoft has since used its own technology for the new Kinect for Xbox One.

TechCrunch reports that the price tag on the deal has lifted from the initial reports of $280 to around $345 million.
