Google has updated the Android smartphone Gmail application to version 2.3.5 adding a number of new features including the ability to sync only the 'priority inbox' messages.
The new update can save battery life by reducing data network traffic by only syncing important emails as identified by Gmail's 'priority inbox' feature.
Gmail 2.3.5 also has the ability to set individual label notifications and ringtones. Darth Vadar tune for a work email? No problem. The new Gmail app also offers unspecified performance improvements and will remember the 'show pictures' settings based on sender.
The Gmail application can be manually upgraded via the Android Market or the update will be pushed out in due course.
