Device could be launched as early as the end of the year

Analyst reveals ‘details of BlackBerry tablet’

An analyst has revealed what he claims are details of BlackBerry manufacturer RIM’s new tablet device.

The 1GHz tablet will be powered by a processor from Marvell, according to Ashok Kumar, an analyst at Rodman & Renshaw.

"Research In Motion is trying to pull forward the launch of the 7-inch touchscreen tablet from early next year to year end… with a marginal point of differentiation being the front- and back-facing cameras for videoconferencing," said Kumar in a research note.

We reported in May that RIM was working on a tablet PC that would be smaller and thinner than the iPad, codenamed ‘BlackPad’ or ‘Cobalt’.
