AMD has begun shipping its new range of Fusion APUs, ahead of its Q1 2011 deadline.
The devices combine the functionality of a CPU with the graphics capacity of a GPU on a single die, complete with DirectX 11 support.
The two models to have been shipped are the 1.5 GHz single-core Ontario and the 1.6 GHz dual-core Zacate. Both models feature 80 DX11 ‘nanocores’ that function as part of the integrated Radeon HD 6310 graphics, according to Softpedia,
“With our upcoming AMD Fusion APUs combining our DirectX 11-capable graphics processors and next-generation microprocessors on a single chip, we are poised to lead the industry’s next computing era with richer, more vivid digital experiences,” said AMD’s president and CEO Dirk Meyer.
AMD has announced that it expects to show off the first generation of Fusion powered devices at next year’s CES event in Las Vegas.
