AMD has introduced a new line of PRO A-Series mobile processors this week, designed for the commercial laptop market.
Previously codenamed Carrizo PRO, the new selection of processors boasts new security features and performance, including powering Windows 10 equipped laptop systems.
David Bennett, corporate VP and general manager for commercial products at AMD, said: "Our new AMD PRO processors enable performance, reliability and opportunity for today’s businesses by giving customers choice and affordability to meet their specific business needs.
"We enable IT managers to maintain a secure, stable and reliable environment, offering unmatched dependability, stability, processor longevity and an opportunity for richer system configurations."
The chips support Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) industry-standard Desktop and mobile Architecture for System Hardware (DASH) standards, which produces greater management flexibility.
Designed in collaboration with HP, ExactTrak and Qualcomm Technologies, the chips are currently available on HP EliteBook 705 G3 Series PCs, including HP EliteBook 725, 745 and 755 series.
"Working closely with HP and AMD, we believe the HP EliteBook 705 G3 Series will benefit enterprise users, delivering fast and secure connectivity for cost-effective cloud-based solutions like asset tracking, remote data wipe, sponsored connectivity and pay-as-you-go applications,” added Fram Akiki, senior director of product management at Qualcomm Technologies.
As AMD releases these new chips that support Windows 10, analyst IDC has revealed more businesses are eager to migrate to the new operating system (OS).
According to latest data from the analyst, 40 per cent of respondents say they are looking to upgrade to the new OS in the next 12 months.
In addition, AMD has announced various new discrete Embedded Radeon graphics options for multiple form factors.
The new variants cover different needs, from 192 GFLOPS to 3 TFLOPS of single precision performance, and offer 20 to less than 95 watts of thermal design power.
For example, new chips include the E8950MXM, which offers 8GB GDDR5 memory and 32 compute units, and the E8870MXM and E8870PCIe, which boast 12 compute units and 4GB GDDR5 memory.
AMD has also released the E6465MCM, E6465MXM and E6465PCIe chips, which come with two compute cores and 2GB GDDR5 memory, plus each new chip comes with support for Windows 7, 8.1, 10 and Linux.

“In addition, the powerful capabilities of our GPUs can address the toughest parallel compute challenges.”
