Amazon is set to launch its Kindle e-book reader in the UK, possibly as early as next week.
A source told industry publication The Bookseller that Amazon was gearing up to make an announcement.
"The key things they needed to tie up have been tied up. The rumours I’ve heard are all saying next week," the source said, adding that publishers had signed non-disclosure agreements, so would not comment on the record.
Amazon launched the Kindle in the US in November 2007, and it sold out the same day. The online retailer has previously said an international launch was on the cards, but did not give a date.
