Online retailer brings its student programme to the UK

Amazon offers Kindle Fire discounts and free Prime memberships to UK students

Amazon has brought its student programme to the UK, meaning those enrolled on a course can use their .ac.uk email address to get a variety of student offers.

Students will be able to take advantage of a selection of Amazon Prime services for free for the first six months, include one-day delivery and discounted express and evening delivery.

After the six months are up, students have the option to continue by paying £39 a year. This will give them access to unlimited streaming on Prime Instant Video as well as access to one Kindle book to borrow each month.

Students will also be offered 20 per cent off all Kindle Fire tablets until May 15th.

"Students currently at University, or those heading there this year, are the internet generation – accustomed to conducting their lives online, via their phone, tablet or PC," said Amazon.

"Our student customers tell us that they want to save time and money when shopping and this programme has been designed to achieve that goal."
