Amazon’s Prime Air expected in the US in 2014 and Europe in 2016

Amazon Octocopter drones can deliver parcels within 30 minutes

Amazon is testing unmanned Octocopters that can deliver orders to customers within 30 minutes.

Carrying packages weighting up to 2.3kg, the service will be called Prime Air.

Amazon says the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is actively working on rules for unmanned aerial vehicles and once those are in place the Octocopters will be ready to go.

Amazon intends to launch Prime Air in the US as soon as the FAA’s rules are put in place in, which is expected to be sometime in 2015. It plans to extend the service to Europe by 2016.
