TV documentary uncovers room searches and frisking

Amazon fires German warehouse security firm after ‘harassing workers’

The online retailer has dismissed a security firm at one of its German warehouses following complaints from seasonal workers.

The news comes a week after a TV documentary accused Hensel European Security Services (Hess) of searching employees’ rooms and frisking them at breakfast.

Amazon has now terminated its contract with Hess.

"Amazon has zero-tolerance for discrimination and intimidation and expects the same from every company we work with," a spokesperson for Amazon said.

Hess shares its name with Hitler’s deputy in the Nazi party Rudolf Hess, and the TV documentary depicted Hess guards wearing branded clothing allegedly linked to the neo-Nazi movement.

The firm has denied any support for far-right political views.
