Software giant Adobe achieved record $1 billion revenue for the fourth quarter representing a 33 per cent year-on-year revenue growth due to what the firm described as “outstanding performance across all of our major businesses.”

“Adobe is transforming how the world is creating, measuring and delivering digital experiences. We are one of the most diversified software companies in the world and are entering 2011 with strong momentum,” said Adobe boss Shantanu Narayen.

The impressive quarter equated to $269 million profit versus a $32 million loss the year before despite the threat of the firm’s Flash technology being locked out of Apple’s lucrative mobile market. To the contrary, Flash 10.1 adoption has surged and other mobile platforms have turned to Adobe technology enthusiastically such as Android with Flash and the upcoming BlackBerry Playbook with AIR.

Adobe’s technology penetrating the web and mobile platforms has done much to foster demand for the firm’s professional development software. Narayen said that sales of the firm’s flagship Creative Suite 5 software are 21 per cent higher than they were for the former version.
