Acer has joined forces with huge-scale Asian IT manufacturer Founder Group, to develop a range of netbooks, tablets and e-readers for the Chinese market.
Acer is the world's largest netbook vendor, and the second biggest PC firm in the world – but has had less success in China.
Founder Group has a strong distribution channels in the territory, especially in rural areas, government, and what it calls 'tier four to six cities' (tier one would be the most populated and well developed).
The deal appears to be greater than a distribution agreement – the firms claim they will "consider additional business cooperation relating to PC products such as activities on intellectual property rights, supply chain and after-service."
Handheld PCB and 'non-PC products' will also be on the agenda for the new partnership.
