Stunning gaming desktop launched in the US

Acer revamps Predator desktop

Acer has refreshed the gaming enthusiast-focused Predator desktop with a new colour scheme and updated hardware.

It’s been two years since the Predator first hit the US gaming market, at the time the striking looks we well received by gamers looking to stand out from the crowd. The drop down fascia and the jaw-like DVD enclosure underneath are certainly striking features

The new model re-colours the front bezel black instead of the chrome-orange effect but this time around there’s just a single US$1,999 model on offer.

The new Predator is equipped with a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 930, Nvidia GTX 470, 1.5TB hard drive and a whopping 12GB of DDR3 RAM. That striking case is also notable for front-accessible hard drive bays which is just as well since the front bezel hinge adds an extra step in gaining access to the insides via the side panel.

The Predator is a striking system which offers pretty good value in the US market compared to the boutique system builders. On the other hand Acer’s boutique competition offers the capability to customise the specifications which will likely remain a considerable advantage for gamers looking to upgrade their rig ahead of the launch of StarCraft II.
