Taiwanese PC vendor Acer has posted an operating loss of $20.35 million during Q2 2013 - $11.39 million after tax.

Revenues dipped 19.2 per cent year-on-year to $2.97 billion, down 2.8 per cent on the previous quarter.

Acer's financial results for H1 2013 also mention revenues of $6.02 billion - a drop of 18.9 per cent year-on-year - and an operating loss of $19.4 million.

Acer said in a statement: "The operating loss was largely due to increasing expenses on investments to strengthen company’s industrial design capability, and the declining gross margin due to DRAM’s price hike."

Acer will hold a conference call for investors today to report on its status and strategy going forwards.
